Return to work

Stories of me trying to return to work, despite not wanting addiction assessments.
(I think the College is still annoyed at me because of the goats!)

14 May 2023 - Still trying to not get treated like an addict
Below is a copy of a letter I sent to the College's lawyer.
8 May 2023 - Treating a "non-addict" as if they were an "addict".
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. sent me for an addiction assessment a while back. They picked the expert, not me. And here is what his final opinion of me was.
Short version - I have never been an addict, and am not one now! Logically you would think that means that the College would not be treating me like an addict.
However, it turns out that they always treat physicians like addicts, whether they are or not.
According to one of their own Registrars, they have never NOT sent a physician for addiction monitoring.

Including me!
In fact, the same guy who created the above report suggested I be send for what they call "medical addiction monitoring".
Which consisted of two very annoying practices.

Which consisted of two very annoying practices.
- Weekly counselling sessions, for the addiction which even they agree I have never had
- Random drug tests, at least 24 times a year. (And since I was addicted to "no drugs" their idea was to test me for "all drugs".
I complained about this, because it was:
- psychologically abusive
- time consuming and annoying
- cost approximately $1000/month

It turns out that there has only ever been one physician in B.C. history who ever got to return to work without "medical addiction monitoring".
And that was me. More about that in posts to come.

There are a few road blocks to Returning to Work

Roadblock #1
You need to get a psychiatrists report.
(And then they try and delay the report)
