Homocysteine
Homocysteine is an amino acide that can make a person more prone to blood clots and hardening of the arteries.
A high level of homocysteine in the blood makes a person more prone to injury to the lining of the blood vessels, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessel lining, which leads to hardening of the arteries and lack of blood flow.
Homocysteine is not as important a risk factor as high blood pressure or diabetes or cholesterol, but it is something I often check in people that have those sorts of problems
Hyperhomoscyteinemia has also been associated with early pregnancy loss and for spinal chord problems in infants.

Treatment of High Homocysteine
Homocysteine is decreased by high amounts of B vitamins.
Milder cases can be treated just by a diet high in B vitamins
More severe cases need to take B vitamin supplements.
The most important B vitamins are Vit B1 ( folic acid ) , B6, and B12
You can't overdose on these because you just pee any excess away, taking homocysteine out of your system at the same time.
Levels can be decreased within 2 weeks of starting, and continue to decrease for the next 6 weeks.
